Dr. Costello is a triple board-certified cardiologist in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. Dr. Costello is board-certified in Electrophysiology. Dr. Costello joined The Heart House in 2020. His focus is treating a multitude of heart rhythm disorders including atrial fibrillation, SVT, ventricular tachycardia and PVCs. His expertise includes minimally invasive catheter ablation for arrhythmia as well as device implantation for cardiac rhythm management and treatment of heart failure.

Mark Gelernt

Dr. Gelernt is focused on quality healthcare for all his patients, and has a strong interest in the future of medical care. He is serving on the Board of Directors for the Heart House. Additionally, he is in his second term as Medical Staff President for Inspira Healthcare, where he also serves on the Board of Directors. He continues to help the system develop new programs to improve care, including the STEMI program for acute heart attack patients, a dyspnea/pulmonary hypertension program for those with shortness of breath, and a streamlined CVA/TIA protocol to help those with acute neurologic syndromes receive more efficient, less costly care with improved quality outcomes. He helps monitor quality performance standards and results for the system, and developed an improved and more robust performance improvement process; as a result, quality and costs for patients in the system have continued to improve. In his adminstrative role, he also works closely with the Graduate Medical Education department to help improve training for our future physicians.

Dr. Gips is one of our highly experienced vein experts, at our Haddon Heights, Marlton, Washington Township or Vineland offices. He performs outpatient procedures in our Marlton and Vineland offices. He also educates medical students as a Clinical Assistant Professor Department of Medicine, UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Gips has been published on various topics in cardiology and has participated in, or is currently participating in, almost four-dozen clinical trials. He is licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and holds privileges at several hospitals throughout Southern New Jersey.

Dr. Jason Palermo, is a board-certified cardiologist with over 14 years of experience. Dr. Palermo, who specializes in non-invasive cardiology, is a proponent of nutrition, weight management and exercise to stave off heart disease. He is also an adjunct professor in Rowan University’s Health and Exercise Science Department. Prior to joining The Heart House, formerly known as Cardiovascular Associates of the Delaware Valley, Dr. Palermo practiced with Virtua Cardiology Group in Voorhees, N.J. From 2009 to 2011, he was part of Cardiology Consultants of Delaware, in Lewes, Delaware. Born and raised in South Jersey, Dr. Palermo earned a bachelor of science degree from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (now Stockton University), and in 2003 received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. After medical school, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Temple. He is certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, and Nuclear Cardiology. In 2013, Dr. Palermo was selected as a “Top Doc,” Cardiovascular Disease, bySJ Magazine. He lives in Washington Township, N.J.

Dr. Baptist completed his initial medical education in India, came to the USA in 1978, completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship, and in 1983 joined the staff of Bridgeton Hospital, which evolved over the years into the Inspira Health System. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He served for many years in Medical Staff leadership, sings and plays several musical instruments, and is active in the local community as a Rotarian. He loves to teach, and has been involved in local radio and TV public educational programs for many years, in addition to the Inspira Medical Residency program since its inception. Dr. Mohapatra is a clinical and heart failure cardiologist with over 16 years of experience. He is board certified in cardiovascular medicine, nuclear cardiology, and congestive heart failure/cardiac transplant. After completing his internal medicine residency at The University of Massachusetts Medical Center In Worcester, MA, he went on to complete a one year CHF/cardiac transplant fellowship at Yale University prior to doing his general cardiology fellowship at Cornell University/Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York.

Dr. Mohapatra has received several awards, including South Jersey "Top Doc" along with the Guardian Angels award. He has been featured in multiple articles in the South Jersey Courier Post and Philadelphia Business Journal. His research articles have been published in the American Heart Journal in 2005 along with the Journal of Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine in 2020.
